4th Trip to Royal - Spring Skiing in January?

So what's up with the weather this week? The temperature was pushing 40F and then... the rain. But let's not forget the sleet (that's frozen rain drops for all you non-Earth Sciencers out there). Very painful to the eyes and face that sleet is - evil stuff. But putting all the uncomfortable conditions aside, you have to admit that the snow was pretty amazing this week. Great for making snowballs too! Of course I don't really know anyone in the club mean enough to through a few slushballs at someone else...

3rd Trip To Royal - Stark Contrast to Last Week

Although our numbers were small this week, we still had a great time. Ross gave us a scare with his post jump fall (we think he just wanted to make it down the Royal the easy way - in a ski patrol sled!) but eventually he went on to perfect his turns on the bunny slope.

I handed over the camera to Tiegan and Chelsea for a bit and they managed to get some nice photos - I especially liked the one of the shadow.

For those of you who couldn't make it today - for whatever reason - now you know that a lack of snow in Fort Plain doesn't mean the mountain is closed! Got Snowmaking?

2nd Trip To Royal Mt. - "A Test of Toughness"

Temp: CCCold.
Wind: Gusting over 30mph!
But you guys and gals toughed it out!

Nice job today - We held off the frostbite and gained some much needed respect for old mother nature. Now stop reading and send this blog some of your own comments - or else...

First Trip to Royal Is A Success!

Thanks to all you guys/gals for a great first trip! Despite the sore muscles, I hope you all had fun. Some highlights, from my point of view, were:
- Dave got tackled by Mr. Orvis.
- Teaching my son Eric how to ski for the first time ever!
- Watching Tiegan and Emily get into a snow fight - you two are pretty brutal! As the video will soon prove...
Feel free to post your comments, good or bad, but keep it nice as my daughter will check this blog occasionaly and she's only 5.

Next Sunday we'll return for more fun (or punishment if you ask Mandy).

Don't forget to spread the word about this blog and about ski club. The more the merrier! It's not good for the body or the mind to sit around the house all winter. Get out and ski!
